Naval expeditions in Rust are getting closer
The developers at Facepunch Studio have decided to share their plans for the near future up until December, when the open-world survival MMO shooter Rust will celebrate its 12th anniversary. Among other things, there were several clarifications about the upcoming «Naval Fleet» update, promises to fix a number of bugs and balance issues. Additionally, it was revealed that a huge number of lighting fixtures for decorating personal bases are on the way. But let's go through everything in order.
What awaits Rust in the fall of 2025?
The most significant changes are planned by the developers for November. It is in this month that the major «Naval Fleet» expansion will be released. Players will get the opportunity to build modular ships, sail the waves in search of loot, and even discover small islands to settle on them away from enemies and replenish supplies between pirate raids on the coast. A crossover with the Warhammer universe is also promised—what exactly will appear in it will be revealed later.
One of the main innovations planned for the fall is an increase in firing range. Currently, this distance is limited to 350 meters, but in the future, it will be extended to 400 meters for pistols and shotguns, while automatic rifles will be able to shoot up to 500 meters. Homemade helicopters will get damage indicators, allowing the crew to land the vehicle in time and save themselves. On the other hand, the smoky trail from the rotor blades will immediately reveal the copter's condition. In such a situation, it's more advantageous to target the engine rather than the pilot.
